Experience

Experiences Currently, I am an after school Chess instructor for elementary school children working for Academic Chess. I try and work with students to help utilize their potential. My teaching methods strictly involve positive reinforcement. Students that behave well, listen, participate, and can demonstrate what they've learned earn Chess playing time, and candy or prizes at the end of each lesson. I never punish my students. Someone once told me that if you hang around four fat people, you'll become fat. By enforcing positive reinforcement only, rather than punishing the students, students are allowed to see that positive behavior leads to rewards, and will want to copy accordingly. This helps utilize their potential, make them feel better about themselves and be the best they can be. My main focus is on the social sciences. My major was in Philosophy with an emphasis in Ethics and Public Policy. One of my favorite professors, Tony Brueckner, who sadly died last year, wrote Essays on Skepticism, and was friends with many famous philosophers. I was fortunate enough to call him a good acquaintance and had taken two courses of his, the latter of which, he died just one week before it was over. Relevant coursework: Philosophy: Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, History of Political Thought, Freedom and Determinism, Ethics, Advanced Ethical Theory, Moral Psychology, Philosophy of Religion, Metaphysics, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law Theory of Knowledge: Theory of Knowledge Psychology: Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Statistical Methods for the Behavioral Sciences, Psychology of Reasoning and Problem Solving, Biological Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Psychology of Human Sexuality Writing: College Writing 2, Writing for Health Professions, Business and Administrative Writing, Journalism Writing Religious Studies: Judaism in Modern Times, World Religions Political Science: American Government, Civics, Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics Sociology: Introduction to Sociology, Social Psychology (AKA SOC 30)
